Tea Trade Association of Malaysia
Pertubuhan Perdagangan Teh Malaysia
Tea Trade Association of Malaysia (TTAM) was established in 1956 by a group of tea merchants around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor as Tea Merchants’ Association, Federation of Malaya originally. Since then, its membership spread nationwide. TTAM is a non-government, non-profit business association with the objective to promote and encourage interaction, co-operation and development of tea trade and tea cultures locally and abroad, besides protecting the interest of its members and carrying out social responsibilities.
The inaugural issue of TTAM’s quarterly bulletin tea.time was launched in 2012 with the objectives to service its members, disseminate tea events locally and abroad, sharing special articles on tea, present tea poems by local talent, etc.
TTAM organized the inaugural Malaysia Tea and Coffee Expo (MITCE) in 2014 with the endorsement of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and several High Commissions/Embassies of tea and coffee producing countries like Kenya, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Vietnam. With the support from China Tea and Tea Department of CFNA, TTAM has also made tea cakes to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.
In conjunction with MITCE 2014, TTAM has successfully organized the PIALA TTAM-Battle of Teh Tarik 2014, together with Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (PRESMA), Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners’ Association (PRIMAS) and Selangor & K.L. Chinese Coffee & Tea Shopkeeper’s Association.
